“When we release our worries and traumatic experiences, God will change those negativities into something beautiful ( Isaiah 61:3). For us to love ourselves and others, we must first accept the love that God has for us. “He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west ( Psalms 103:12 NLT). When we repent of our sins, God forgives and forgets ( Hebrews 10: 17 NLT ). God loves you regardless of the mistakes you have made or the family you were born into. James wants God and God knows that but James is trying to fix his situations himself (“We’re bound to break and my hands are tied”) when really he should give all his problems and all his worries to God and allow God to handle everything.ĭon’t ever think you’re forever damaged because of your past or even your current mistakes/failures.James to God: You know I want you / It’s not a secret I try to hide / But I can’t have you / We’re bound to break and my hands are tied James is allowing what others say and what the devil whispers in his ear to affect his life in a negative way-making him feel hopeless. He was born for something much greater than himself. Explanation: James believes because of his past or even because of family curses that repeat generation after generation, James feels he can’t change his life around aka “rewrite the stars” because he was “destined” to fail.James to God: No one can rewrite the stars / How can you say you’ll be mine? / Everything keeps us apart / And I’m not the one you were meant to find / It’s not up to you / It’s not up to me / When everyone tells us what we can be / How can we rewrite the stars? / Say that the world can be ours / Tonight When it’s time to change the way James lives his life, he feels lost. Although James is able to express himself to God, He still doesn’t know how to live for Him. Explanation: James believes his past aka “mountains” are keeping Him from experiencing God.James to God: You think it’s easy / You think I don’t want to run to you / But there are mountains / And there are doors that we can’t walk through / I know you’re wondering why / Because we’re able to be / Just you and me / Within these walls / But when we go outside / You’re going to wake up and see that it was hopeless after all He is waiting for you with open arms ( Psalms 5:11-12 MSG Jeremiah 29:13 NLT). He knew every single decision you would take on this earth before you were born and he still decided to create you. Go to Him and don’t be afraid of what other people will think, and don’t think your past will keep you away from God. Who cares what people will say about us? He is the Love you have been searching for throughout your journey on earth. Explanation: It’s up to us to build that relationship with the Lord. But God will always wait for James no matter how long it takes. God is waiting on James and it’s up to James to make that decision. Explanation: It’s not too late for James to change his life around it’s not too late to follow God.God to James: What if we rewrite the stars? / Say you were made to be mine / Nothing could keep us apart / You’d be the one I was meant to find / It’s up to you, and it’s up to me / No one can say what we get to be / So why don’t we rewrite the stars? / Maybe the world could be ours / Tonight We will experience this type of affection when we seek Him. When He says, “I know you want me” that explains how James and everyone else in the world are looking for peace, love, and joy and God is the essence of that. There is nothing in this world James can do that will keep God from loving him. God is basically saying James is the apple of His eye. God to James: You know I want you / It’s not a secret I try to hide / I know you want me / So don’t keep saying our hands are tied / You claim it’s not in the cards / Fate is pulling you miles away / And out of reach from me / But you’re here in my heart / So who can stop me if I decide / That you’re my destiny? For the explanation of the lyrics, when Zac Efron sings, that’s God speaking to James and when Zendaya sings, that James’ response to God. Zac Efron and Zendaya are the singers of this song. In Rewrite the Stars, God is explaining that James is the apple of His eye ( Psalms 17:8 NIV Deuteronomy 32:10 NIV), but James feels he does not deserve God’s love ultimately not accepting the freedom God has given him.
